The No. 3/4 Florida softball squad improved to 41-5 overall and 14-4 in Southeastern Conference play after going 3-1 in the past week of play, including a 9-1 six-inning victory over USF in mid-week action before taking the series at No. 18/19 Kentucky with 7-4 and 6-3 wins Friday and Sunday, respectively. The Wildcats took Saturday’s contest against the Gators, 4-2. UF improved to 8-3 (.727) against Top-25 competition this season. Stewart, the first-year speedster, is 13 hits away from UF’s freshman record for hits (75), while her 29 stolen bases are two shy of the Florida single-season record 31, set by former Gator All-American Michelle Moultrie in 2011. Freshman Taylor Schwarz (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) had a career day Sunday in UF’s series clincher against Kentucky, going 3-for-3 at the plate with a base hit, triple and homer to drive in three runs.

UF’s three-hurler pitching staff collaborated in the circle for the Gators, with each picking up victories – sophomore Lauren Haeger (Peoria, Ariz.) (11-2, 2.23 ERA) last Wednesday vs. USF, junior ace Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) (23-3, 1.48 ERA) in the series-opener with the Wildcats Friday and sophomore Alyssa Bache (Clearwater, Fla.) (7-0, 1.63 ERA) in Sunday’s series finale vs. Kentucky.

Little picked up the single-season UF record for hit-by-pitch, eclipsing 15 and now boasting 17, while the Gators have tied the single-season team record for HBP with 59.

Florida enters the clash with Florida State ranked third in the country in win-loss percentage (.891), sixth in fielding percentage (.978), 11th in triples per game (0.33), 12th in ERA (1.72), 14th in homers per game (1.33) and 19th in both stolen bases per game (1.93) and slugging percentage (.516).
