Hitting the road for the final time in the regular season, the No. 3 Florida lacrosse team is set to take on Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tenn. on Sunday in ALC action.  Opening draw is set for 2 p.m. ET at Vanderbilt Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.

The Gators bring a 14-1 overall recording into Saturday’s matchup with a 2-1 mark in ALC play and are coming off a win at home against then-No.17 Johns Hopkins last Saturday. Senior attacks Kitty Cullen (Rockville, Md.) and Ashley Bruns (Ellicott City, Md.) each scored five goals helping their team to a 19-9 win.

Florida brings the second-ranked defense (6.67 gpg.) and sixth-ranked offense (14.80 gpg.) in the nation into the contest.  They also rank in the top 10 in scoring margin (second, 8.13 gpg.), draw controls (14.53 dcpg.) and ground balls (tied for ninth, 19.00).  Their 14-1 record is the third-best win percentage in the nation (.938) with a 5-1 record in road contests this season. Senior goalie Mikey Meagher (Liverpool, N.Y.) ranks in the top 10 in two categories – save percentage (eighth, .488) and goals-against average (second, 6.70).

Cullen currently leads UF in scoring with 47 points with 35 goals and 12 assists. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Gilroy (Northport, N.Y.) follows up closely with 44 points including a team-leading 38 goals and six assists.  In all, UF has five players each with 22 points or more including senior attack Gabi Wiegand (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and senior midfielder Brittany Dashiell (Bel Air, Md.).

Florida also boasts the reigning ALC Rookie of the Week in freshman midfielder Sydney DuPre, who has started every game for the Orange and Blue this season.

The Commodores (2-12, 0-4 ALC) have yet to win a regular season conference game and will get one final try against Florida on Sunday. Vanderbilt notched one win in February (vs. Kennesaw State) and a win on April 1 against Harvard.  Senior attack Carly Linthicum leads the ‘Dores with 57 points (46 goals, 11 assists) while freshman attack Mallory Schonk and junior attack Abby Wheeler have both contributed 22 goals. Senior defender Page Cahill leads the Vanderbilt defense, with 32 ground balls, 11 draws and 11 caused turnovers.

The all-time series between the two teams is tied at 2-2 with the Gators taking the past two meetings.

After Sunday, Florida has just one regular season game remaining before the ALC Tournament hosted by Johns Hopkins on May 2-5.  UF will honor 13 seniors on April 20 in the regular season finale versus Northwestern at 12 p.m.
