University of Florida senior T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) finished the second round of the 2013 Masters Tournament in 75 strokes (+3) on Friday, April 12 at the Augusta National Golf Club. Vogel recorded a two-round score of 152 (+8) and will not advance to weekend play.

The top-50 golfers and ties, as well as anyone within 10 shots of the lead, made the cut and advanced to this weekend’s third and fourth round. At the end of the second round, Vogel trailed leader Jason Day by 14 strokes and was not in the top-50, thus ending his time at Augusta National.

Coming into the tournament, Vogel aimed at taking home low-amateur honors. That distinction will go to 14-year old Tianlang Guan, who was the only amateur to make the cut. Vogel tied with University of California junior Michael Weaver for the second-best score among amateurs.

For his second round, the 2012 U.S. Amateur Public Links champion was once again paired with two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal and first round leader Marc Leishman. Vogel began the day at the par-72, 7,435 yard course with a par on the par-4, first hole. He then recorded bogeys on consecutive holes to bring his score to two-over par for the day.

After a stretch of three straight pars, Vogel recorded a bogey on the par-4, seventh hole. For the second day in-a-row, Vogel rallied from a bogey on the seventh hole and scored a birdie on the par-5, eighth hole. He registered a par on the final hole of the front nine and made the turn at two-over par for the day at the Augusta National Golf Club.

The Cooper City, Fla. native opened the back nine with a bogey on the par-four, 10th hole. On the par-four, 11th hole, Vogel had a birdie putt, but left it just short and settled for par. Vogel had a rough start to the next hole, but saved par after sinking a putt from off the green on the par-3, 12th hole.

On the par-5, 13th hole, Vogel reached the green in two shots to set up an eagle putt. He could not sink the far eagle putt and eventually settled for par. After another par on the next hole, Vogel had a birdie opportunity on the par-5, 15th hole. Once again, he could not convert the long putt and recorded a par for the hole.

Vogel just missed a par putt on the par-3, 16th hole and finished with a bogey, pushing his score to four-over par for the day. He responded with a birdie on the next hole to bring his total back to three-over for the second round of play. The Florida senior completed his final round at Augusta National with a par on the par-4, 18th hole.
