Floridaís Najee Glass (Woodbridge, N.J.) and Marija Vucenovic (Sremska Mitrovica, Serbia) have been honored by the Southeastern Conference as the rookie duo swept SEC Freshman of the Week honors, the league offices in Birmingham, Ala. announced Tuesday.

Glass ran a personal best of 45.71 in the menís 400 meters at the Pepsi Florida Relays, finishing second overall in the event. The freshman currently leads the SEC and ranks second nationally in the menís 400 meters behind USC senior Bryshon Nellum (45.54), who won the event at the Pepsi Florida Relays. Glass also ran the opening leg of the Florida menís 4x400-meter relay, which finished as the top collegiate team in a time of 3:04.39, currently fourth in the NCAA. Glass is a member of the nationís leading 4x400-meter relay that put forth a nation-leading time of 3:02.65 at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by State Farm.

Vucenovic won her second crown in as many meets with her Pepsi Florida Relays title in the womenís javelin. In just her second collegiate competition, Vucenovic threw 55.43m/181-10 at the Pepsi Florida Relays to lead the nation in the event. The freshman, who also captured the womenís javelin title at the 86th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, leads the nation by nearly five feet, bettering second-ranked Lauren Kenney of Alabama (53.93m/176-11). Vucenovic is the only collegian to eclipse 180 feet this year and her throw goes down as third-best in Florida program history.

The Gators have had eight SEC weekly honors this season, as Marquis Dendy (Middletown, Del.), Dedric Dukes (Miami, Fla.) and Arman Hall (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) were all recognized individually in the indoor season. Dukes and Hall were also members of the world-leading indoor menís 4x400-meter relay who was named SEC Menís Indoor Runner of the Week after the Razorback Invitational (3:05.93). Junior Cory McGee (Pass Christian, Miss.) was named the SEC Co-Womenís Runner of the Week for her performance at the Crimson Tide Indoor Opener earlier in the season.

The Gators are off until they return to Percy Beard Track to host the Tom Jones Memorial Classic. The one-day meet is set for Saturday, April 20, and schedule and information can be found on GatorZone.
