Sunday April 7, 2013Men's Golf to Wrap Up Regular Season at Gary Koch Invitational
The eighth-ranked University of Florida men’s golf team will complete its regular season schedule when it travels to nearby-Tampa, Fla. for the Gary Koch Invitational. The two-day tournament, hosted by Auburn University and the University of Kentucky, will be held at the Old Memorial Golf Club from April 8-9.
After a successful fall season, Florida has had its fair share of injuries and setbacks in the spring. The team is looking at the Gary Koch Invitational as an opportunity to springboard into postseason play.
“As a player, I’ve been fortunate to not have many injuries,” head coach Buddy Alexander commented. “We have had everything this spring. We are finally getting healthier.”
The Gators’ lineup will comprise of sophomores Eric Banks (Truro, Canada) and J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), senior Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.), and senior Tommy Mou (Bradenton, Fla.). Junior Bill Anderson (DeLand, Fla.) will participate in the event at the par-72, 7,389 yard course as an individual.
This marks the second year in-a-row that the Gators have participated in this event. Last season, Florida finished in sixth place at the par-72, 7,389 yard course. McCumber was the lowest UF scorer, recording a one-over par for the tournament. He finished in a tie for 12th place.
Play will begin Monday with two rounds of play. Live scoring will not be available for the tournament.
