Saturday April 6, 2013Hedberg Shoots Another Even Round, Makes Cut at LPGA Kraft Nabisco Championship

Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Camilla Hedberg is the top amateur after two rounds of the Kraft Nabisco Championship.

Gator sophomore Camilla Hedberg (Sitges, Spain) shot her second-straight round of even par (72) (144) at the LPGA Kraft Nabsico Championship yesterday, good enough to be one of five amateurs to make the cut and play into the weekend of one of the LPGA’s most prestigious tournaments.

For much of Friday’s round at the famous Dinah Shore Champions Course, it seemed as if Hedberg might even be in the top-10 going into the third round. She was four-under with no bogeys after 11 holes, but a bogey on the par four, third hole, and then two-straight double-bogeys on No. 6 and No. 7 dropped her back to one-over . Luckily, the sophomore was able to get back on track and end on a high note after birdieing the par-five, ninth hole.

Hedberg was solid with her putting stroke all day as she only needed 28 putts to get through her round, five less than her first round total. Over the past two rounds, Hedberg is the top amateur in the field and is only seven shots back of the leader Inbee Park of South Korea.

Two other Gators in the field were not able to make the cut on day two. Current senior Isabelle Lendl (Goshen, Conn.) and former Gator Sandra Gal (’08) both were cut from the field, not able to fall in the top-70 of the tournament. Lendl shot a second round 89 to finish at 29-over for the tournament. Gal shot a 74 on day two to improve by four shots, but it wasn’t enough as she was eight-over in competition, just two shots off the cut line.

Hedberg will look to keep her consistency up on day three of the Kraft Nabisco and look to possibly make some moves up the leaderboard as her third round tee time is scheduled for 1:44 p.m. EST.

Live scoring for the Kraft Nabisco Championship can be found on LPGA.com and live television coverage will be on the Golf Channel starting at 5 p.m. and running until 9 p.m.
