Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Camilla Hedberg shot an even par (72) at the first round of the LPGA's Kraft Nabisco Championship on Thursday.

Sophomore Gator women’s golfer Camilla Hedberg (Sitges, Spain) shot an even par (72) in the first round of the LPGA’s Kraft Nabisco Championship Thursday in Rancho Mirage, Calif. The score puts her in a tie for 23rd place where she is only four shots back of leaders Na Yeon Choi of South Korea, Suzann Pettersen of Norway and Jodi Ewart Shadoff of England.

For much of her first nine holes, Hedberg hovered around the top of the standings after making two birdies and one bogey before reaching her ninth hole. The sophomore stayed consistent all the way through her round and nearly finished her round under par, but suffered a bogey on the par five, ninth hole.

Hedberg was solid on her approach shots all day, hitting 15 of 18 greens in regulation, while hitting nine of 14 fairways. With the projected cut line set at the top 70 players in the field, Hedberg has a very good chance of making the weekend in one of the LPGA’s most prestigious tournaments.

Senior Isabelle Lendl (Goshen, Conn.) also completed her first round yesterday of the Kraft Nabisco, however, will have some work to do in today’s second round after carding an 84 (+12). Former Gator Sandra Gal (’08) finished her first round at six-over (78) and is tied for 96th.

Tee times for today’s second round start at 10:30 EST with Lendl being the first Gator off at 11:30 a.m. Hedberg will start her quest for a made cut at 3:18 p.m.. Gal will go off at 10:50 a.m. EST. Coverage for the tournament will be on The Golf Channel starting at noon and running until 3 p.m. It will then resume at 6 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. Live scoring can also be found at LPGA.com.
