Wednesday March 13, 2013Gator Divers Competed on Platform in Final Day of NCAA Zone Diving
The final day of the NCAA Zone B Diving concluded with the platform diving as the Florida diving team had two compete. Four Gators competed on the platform, Kahlia Warner (Queensland, Australia) and Delaney Dye (Tallahassee, Fla.) for the women and redshirt junior Christopher Jones (Palm City, Fla.) and redshirt freshman Zach Hernandez (Johns Creek, Ga.) for the men.
Warner advanced to the final of the platform, making all three diving finals. She posted a score of 240.10 in the prelims and a 213.55 in the final to finish 10th with a combined score of 435.65. Dye finished 13th overall, just missing the final. She posted a score of 219.10.
On the men’s side, Jones dove his way into the final after posting a score of 295.85 in the prelims. He finished eighth after his personal-best and final round score of 327.65 to earn a combined 623.50. Hernandez finished 17th with his score of 231.10.
The Gators will conclude their season with the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships that will take place March 21-23 for the women and March 28-30 for the men. Both will be held in Indianapolis, Ind. this year.
