Gainesville, Fla.
Senior Kenny Boynton (Pompano Beach, Fla.) was named to the 2012-13 Men’s Basketball All-District IV Team, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced today. The 2012-13 Men’s Basketball All-District IV Team recognizes the best players in collegiate men’s basketball from schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Boynton led the Gators in scoring for the 2012-13 regular season, averaging 12.5 points per game in 30 games played. He currently is 36 points shy of becoming the second in program history to score at least 2,000 points. The Pompano Beach, Fla. native is UF’s all-time leader in 3-point field goals made and is second on the school’s career scoring list, as well.
This marks Boynton’s second postseason honor for the 2012-13 regular season. Earlier this week, he was named to the All-SEC second team by the league coaches. It marked his third straight year as an all-conference performer.
Florida begins postseason play this Friday at 1 p.m. at the SEC Tournament quarterfinals in Nashville, Tenn. The team will take on the winner of Thursday’s game between Georgia and LSU.
