Sunday March 10, 2013Gator Divers Travel to Tennessee for NCAA Zone B Diving Championships

Gainesville, Fla.

The University of Florida diving team will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. to compete in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships that run from Mon., March 11 through Wed., March 13. The Gators will have six divers compete as they look to qualify for the 2013 NCAA Championships.

For the women, three Gators are set to dive as freshman Delaney Dye (Tallahassee, Fla.), freshman Emily Mosher (Cincinnati, Ohio) and freshman Kahlia Warner (Queensland, Australia).

All three secured zone scores and will compete on the one-meter and three-meter boards. Warner has the top scores of 343.13 on the three-meter and 297.75 on the one-meter. Dye comes in with personal-bests of 321.08 on the three and 278.55 on the one while Mosher has posted scores of 290.15 and 276.30 respectively.

Warner and Dye will also compete on the platform as they recorded qualifying scores of 241.75 and 235.10 respectively at the SEC Championships.

Three Gator men will also compete for a spot at the NCAA Championships. Redshirt freshman Zach Hernandez (Johns Creek, Ga.), redshirt junior Christopher Jones (Palm City, Fla.) and senior Sean Saley (Pompano Beach, Fla.) will all dive in the one-meter and three-meter events.

Hernandez recorded the top score and his personal-best of 360.82 on the three-meter against Florida Atlantic and added his season-best of 314.40 on the one-meter to qualify. Jones holds the top score for the Gators on the one-meter with his 348.51 against Georgia, while he has a 346.50 on the three-meter. Saley has recorded scores of 356.55 on the three-meter and 338.11 on the one-meter board.

The first day of competition will feature the one-meter board as the men will dive at 11:00 a.m. and the women will go at 3:30 p.m. On Tuesday, the teams will compete in the three-meter with the women starting at 11:00 a.m. and the men at 3:30 p.m., then it will conclude Wednesday with the platform beginning at 10:30 a.m. for the women and 3:30 p.m. for the men.
