The eighth-ranked University of Florida men’s golf team will participate in its third event of the spring season at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters from Friday, March 8 – Sunday, Match 10. The three-round tournament will be held at the Southern Highlands Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nev.
The Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters features one of the strongest fields in collegiate golf this year. Every team in the field is ranked or receiving votes in the most recent coaches’ poll. In addition, 11 of the top-13 teams in the poll will be participating.
"The Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters has a great field and is a unique tournament,” head coach Buddy Alexander stated. “It will probably be the best field we will see this spring, which makes this very important.”
Florida’s lineup will comprise of sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), seniors T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.) and Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), sophomore Eric Banks (Truro, Canada), and freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.).
Last season, the Gators finished in ninth place at the par-72, 7,510 yard course. Tomlinson finished in a tie for eighth place individually. His eighth place-showing was his second-best performance of his UF career, to date.
“With this tournament and our next tournament the weekend after, this is a big part of our season,” Alexander stated. “We are healthy for the first time this semester and I am anxious to see how we play.”
