Last Friday versus No. 14 Minnesota, the Gators posted a school-record 198.425 – the nation’s highest total in nine seasons and equaling the eighth highest all-time. A total like that is built by big scores and Florida’s two honorees made sizable contributions.
Hunter, the defending NCAA all-around champion, picked up her third title of 2013 with the nation’s top all-around total of the last four seasons, 39.80. The total equals Florida’s school record set in 1996 by 11-time All-American Kristen Guise.
Sloan was runner-up in Friday’s all-around with a collegiate-best total of 39.75. That total ranks as the nation’s second highest this season and it equals the third-highest all-around total in school history. It ranks behind Hunter’s total as the nation’s second highest of the last four seasons.
Hunter also claimed her fourth vault title of 2013 by equaling her collegiate-best of 9.975 for the second consecutive meet. It was her fifth nearly-perfect mark of her last 11 vault competitions. She also equaled her collegiate uneven bars best of 9.95 for the second consecutive meet to take second and used the same mark to share second in floor competition. Hunter also equaled her collegiate balance beam best of 9.925 to take third overall.
Sloan upped her collegiate best to a nearly-perfect 9.975 Friday to claim her third beam title of the season. She was second at 9.95 in the uneven bars competition, marking her fourth consecutive meet with a bars mark of 9.95 or above. She also equaled her collegiate floor exercise best of 9.925.
Hunter leads the Gators with 12 event titles and Sloan is second at 11.
The Florida-Minnesota meet airs tape-delayed on SUN Sports on March 10 at 9 a.m.
The Gators now have a week off before heading west to face perennial power No. 7 Utah (9-1-1, 4-1-1 Pac-12) on Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m. ET. That meet airs live on the Pac-12 Network.
