Friday March 1, 2013Florida Earns CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Honor
The Florida menís swimming and diving team was named to the 2012 College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America Team for the Fall semester.
The Scholar All-America Team award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented to teams that achieve the standard in the fall semester, as well as the semester of the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The men accumulated a 3.16 GPA for the fall semester. They were one of six SEC teams to earn the distinction and were second only behind the University of South Carolina. To see all the menís teams that were honored, please click here.
Florida is coming off of their first 2013 SEC Menís Championship since 1993. The Gators won four individual events and had one relay win on their way to the title. They also set two new school records and several NCAA ďAĒ qualifying times. Head Coach Gregg Troy was named SEC Male Swimming Coach of the Year for their performance.
The CSCAA is the oldest coaches organization in America. In addition, to Scholar All-America Awards, the CSCAA recognizes All-America swimmers and divers at the national championships each year.
The Gators will compete at the Bulldog Last Chance Meet that will be held Saturday, March 2 and Sunday, March 3 where several swimmers will race for automatic qualifying times to advance to the NCAA Championships in March.
