Thursday February 28, 2013Gators Aim for Fast Times at Last Chance Meet

Gainesville, Fla.

The University of Florida swimming and diving teams travel to Athens, Ga. this weekend for the Bulldog Last Chance Meet to earn qualifying times for the NCAA meet in March. Five Gator men and seven women have secured NCAA “A” times after the SEC Championships.

The Last Chance Meet will run from Friday, March 1 – Saturday, March 2. UF will look to add more qualifying times before heading to their respective NCAA meets at the end of March. There will be no team scoring, but swimmers can use this meet to swim for times to qualify them for the NCAA Championships.

The team has 25 swimmers who have received NCAA “B” (provisional) qualifying times throughout the season. If they are unable to hit the automatic times they can still advance to the NCAA meet in events that are not filled up with the automatic qualifiers.

Up next will be the NCAA Zone Diving that takes place in Knoxville, Tenn. March 11-13. Then the women’s NCAA Championship will take place from March 21-23 in Indianapolis, Ind. and the men will come in a week later for their NCAA Championship from March 28-30.
