SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Today, the University of Florida Athletics Department announced it will partner with SportStream, a pioneer in social second-screen experiences for sports fans. Together, they’ll offer Gators fans a customized social media feed that includes real-time content, news and stats to keep fans better informed and more engaged. Visit www.GatorZone.com/sportstream to join the discussion.
The
new social stream debuts during tomorrow’s showdown against reigning NCAA
Champion Kentucky Wildcats (7:00pm ET - ESPN). SportStream’s social media
coverage of the game will incorporate a wide range of media from the most
relevant voices. For the first time, the Gator Nation can visit one location to
get high quality Tweets, Facebook and Instagram posts from official team
accounts, and lively commentary from a wide range of national sports
personalities, TV and radio commentators and local beat writers. And so fans
never miss a beat, the real-time social stream is accessible around the clock
to ensure that Florida diehards remain among the most informed in the country.
“We’re always looking for new
ways to link Gators fans to the teams and athletes they care about,” said Fred Demarest, Assistant Athletics Director for
Strategic Communications and New Media at the University of Florida Athletics
Association. “Partnering with SportStream will help ensure our fans
receive relevant and fun information so they spend less time sifting and more
time enjoying the games.”
In
recent years, social media platforms have become a hot spot for sports fans to
engage in discussion around their favorite teams. But with major sporting
events generating thousands of pieces of content per second, it’s become
increasingly difficult for fans to find quality social commentary that’s
meaningful to the overall fan experience. Thanks to SportStream’s unique Team
Platform, teams can offer fans an elegant, digestible experience that’s cutting
edge and that complements their broader approach to fan engagement. That’s why
programs like the Florida Gators, Seattle Seahawks, Michigan Wolverines, and
the Phoenix Coyotes have been eager to team up.
“We have had amazing opportunities to partner with
professional and collegiate teams looking to bring games closer to fans, and
we’re so excited to continue that trend with the Florida Gators,” said Bob
Morgan, CEO and co-founder of SportStream. “The custom stream will allow Gators
fans to easily share game-related comments, stats and pictures across their
favorite social media channels to ultimately transform
their viewing experience.”
SportStream also offers sports fans a consumer
application covering NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, NCAAB, and NCAAF. It's available for
iPhone, iPad and on the web.
