The No. 2 Florida men and No. 7 Florida women have a busy weekend ahead, as both squads will compete at the Husky Classic and the Virginia Tech Elite Meet. This is the final weekend of action before the SEC Indoor Championships, hosted by the University of Arkansas, February 22-24.

The distance corps travels to Seattle to compete at the Husky Classic, Friday and Saturday, held at Dempsey Indoor. The Gators will begin competition at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday with Florence Ngetich (Eldama Ravine, Kenya) in the invitational section of the women’s 5,000 meters. Ngetich won the SEC title in the event last year. On Saturday, the Gators will be competing in the mid-distance events, with All-Americans Cory McGee (Pass Christian, Miss.) and Agata Strausa (Riga, Latvia) in the invitational section of the women’s mile, and All-American Sean Obinwa (Tampa, Fla.) in the invite of the men’s 800 meters.

Among the more than 1,300 athletes entered in the Husky Classic this weekend include representatives from over half of the teams ranked in the USTFCCCA Top-10. On the men’s side, No. 1 Arkansas, No. 2 Florida, No. 4 Oregon, No. 5 Arizona State, No. 8 Minnesota, and No. 10 Arizona will have athletes in action. Looking at the women’s top-10, No. 1 Kansas, No. 4 Arkansas, No. 5 Oregon, No. 7 Florida, Washington at No. 8, and No. 10 Georgia will be mixing it up.

In Blacksburg, the Gators have a full slate for the two-day “Doc” Hale Virginia Tech Elite Meet, as four field events open the competition at Rector Field House. SEC Champions Marquis Dendy (Middletown, Del.) and Jeremy Postin (Andover, Kan.) compete in the men’s long jump and men’s weight throw, respectively, while two-time Eddie Lovett (West Palm Beach, Fla.) gets things started in the prelims of the men’s 60-meter hurdles.

In Blacksburg, the men’s side features three teams ranked in the top 20 (No. 2 Florida, No. 9 Auburn, No. 20 Virginia Tech) while the women’s side includes four teams in the top 25 (No. 2 Clemson, No. 7 Florida, No. 10 Georgia, No. 25 Auburn).

Gator fans can follow along with the action through live results (links above) and a full recap and results will be available both Friday and Saturday on GatorZone.com.
