Friday February 1, 2013Gator Baseball Announces Complete TV Schedule

Gainesville, Fla.

The Southeastern Conference announced its official 2013 SEC Baseball television schedule on Friday, the fourth under the league’s 15-year agreement with ESPN. Florida will have a total of 10 games as part of the league’s regular-season package that includes 70 broadcasts in 2013, as well as another 10 on its regional sports network partner, Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida. The Gators will also have at least 27 contests carried on GatorVision Online, a live streaming video and audio service available through GatorZone.com.

All of the games from the 2013 SEC Tournament will continue to be televised, with the championship game airing again nationally on ESPN2. The semifinals will also air nationally for the first time, which will be broadcast on ESPNEWS. The SEC Baseball television package is derived from broadcasts on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, Fox Sports and CSS. In addition, Watch ESPN/ESPN3 will also stream most contests live online.

“Both the success and popularity of baseball in our conference continue to grow,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “We are pleased to be able to offer an increased amount of television coverage of SEC Baseball to our teams and to our fans. This continues to move our baseball exposure to new levels and to a national audience.

SEC schools maintain the rights to air additional games not included in the SEC package with various television outlets, including official SEC regional television outlets. More than 60 additional games will be broadcast via those means, bringing the total number of SEC baseball games broadcast in 2013 to over 130.

ESPNU’s previously announced Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week will begin Thursday, March 28, and run eight weeks through May 16. The Gators will appear twice during the package, hosting South Carolina on April 11 and visiting LSU on May 2. The weekly telecast will feature a live 30-minute pregame show from ESPNU studios each week, focusing on baseball news and updates from around the league. ESPN networks will air 27 SEC baseball broadcasts this season, all of which will be broadcast nationally. All games on ESPN platforms will be broadcast in high definition.

Florida’s first two SEC regular-season games against Kentucky will be carried on March 15 (CSS) and March 16 (FSN/SUN), as well as the second game at Vanderbilt on March 23 (CSS) and the second game of the home series with Ole Miss (CSS). All three contests of the Gators’ meetings with South Carolina (April 11-13) and LSU (May 2-4) will be broadcast.

UF’s first television appearance of the season through the package with Sun Sports/FOX Sports Florida will take place on opening night, when they begin the campaign against Duke at McKethan Stadium. The television schedule for head coach Kevin O'Sullivan's club also features five games against Sunshine State rivals and a pair of contests against SEC competition, at Vanderbilt on March 22 and on Easter Sunday versus Ole Miss on March 31. Non-conference matchups at home against Georgia Southern (Feb. 20), Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 24), Miami (Fla.) (March 1-2), UCF (April 2) and USF (April 23) will also be shown.

The GatorVision Online schedule will begin on opening night, Feb. 15, when Duke visits to raise the curtain on the 56-game regular season. All three games of the series between the Gators and Blue Devils will be carried online. Other non-league opponents in the package for subscribers include Georgia Southern (Feb. 20), Florida Gulf Coast (Feb. 22-24), Miami (Fla.) (March 1-3), Indiana (March 8-10), Florida State (March 12), UCF (April 2) and USF (April 23).

Encounters with SEC rivals Kentucky (March 16-17), Vanderbilt (March 22), Ole Miss (March 29 & 31), Tennessee (April 26-28) and Auburn (May 10-12) will be available too. Fans can find more information about GatorVision Online by visiting www.gatorvision.tv.

Last season, Florida was awarded the top national seed in the NCAA Tournament, its fourth-straight year within the Top-8 seeds, and became one of two programs to advance to the NCAA College World Series in the last three campaigns. O’Sullivan’s team swept the NCAA Gainesville Regional with victories over Bethune-Cookman (4-0) and Georgia Tech (6-2, 15-3) and then defeated NC State twice (7-1, 9-8) in the Gainesville Super Regional to advance to the CWS for the eighth time in school history (1988, 1991, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012). With a 47-20 (.701) record, Florida reached the 40-win plateau for the 21st time in school history, the fourth-straight year under O’Sullivan, and the team has won 100 games in the past two seasons (53-19 in 2011 and 47-20 in 2012).

No. 13 Florida will kick off its 2013 campaign on Friday, Feb. 15, by hosting Duke at 7 p.m. Ticket information for season tickets and single games is available by calling the Gator Ticket Office at 1-800-34-GoUF or by visiting www.GatorZone.com/tickets.
