The University of Florida lacrosse team has been selected as the preseason No. 1 by Lacrosse Magazine, announced on Wednesday.
Lacrosse Magazine, the official publication of US Lacrosse, has been releasing its top 20 men’s and women’s teams in increments over the past few weeks. The No. 1 and No. 2 selections were both revealed today, with the Gators taking the top spot followed by Syracuse, Northwestern, Maryland and North Carolina in the top five.
Florida returns all but one starter from a year ago, where they went 19-3 overall and 5-0 in the ALC. UF won both the regular season and tournament conference championships and advanced all the way to the NCAA national semifinals. They became the fourth team in just their third year of existence to advance to the Final Four.
