La Quinta, Calif.

Former Gator Brian Gay won the third event of the 2013 PGA Tour season on Sunday, January 20, when he took home the Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation tournament title. It marked Gay’s fourth win on the PGA Tour in his professional career.

Gay shot a 263 (-25) for the four-round event. David Lingmerth and Charles Howell III matched his score and forced a playoff. Lingmerth was eliminated on the first playoff hole after recording a double-bogey to Gay and Howell’s par. Gay then birdied the second playoff hole as Howell registered a bogey to take the victory.

Gay was a two-time All-American and three-time All-SEC honoree in his career at UF. He also was the SEC Individual Champion in 1992 and 1994 and a member of the 1993 National Championship team.
