The Gator quartet of Alexandra Cercone, Danielle Collins, Olivia Janowicz and Brianna Morgan each won their respective singles matches during the second day of play at the 11th Annual Freeman Memorial Women’s Tennis Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus on Saturday.

In the quarterfinals of the Flight One consolation draw, Morgan defeated UCLA’s Courtney Dolehide 6-2, 6-0, Collins topped UNLV’s Janine Erasmus, 6-0, 6-1 and Janowicz downed Stanford’s Stacy Tan, 6-3, 2-6, 6-2.

Cercone, playing in a non-draw match, earned a 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 victory against North Carolina’s Lauren McHale.

“We were outstand in singles today,” UF head coach Roland Thornqvist said. “We played some big time tennis and earned some big time wins. I’m excited for us to finish this tournament strong on Sunday.”

On the doubles court, Collins and Janowicz lost their quarterfinal match to Southern California’s Valerie Pulido and Danielle Lao, 8-7, while Cercone and Morgan fell to Stanford’s Stacy Tan and Ellen Tsay in consolation action, 8-6.

The final day of play at the event begins on Sunday at 10 a.m. PST.
