Florida seniors Josh Evans (Irvington, N.J.), Omar Hunter (Buford, Ga.), and Caleb Sturgis (St. Augustine, Fla.) all played in their final game against collegiate competition in senior all-star games on Saturday, January 19. Evans and Sturgis took part in the East-West Shrine Game at Tropicana Field, while Hunter played in the first Raycom College Football All-Star Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
Evans played at safety for the East team in the East-West Shrine Game. The Irvington, N.J. native was credited with one tackle in the game.
Hunter was a member of the Stars’ roster for the Raycom College Football All-Star Classic. He recorded two solo tackles on the day. One of those tackles was a tackle for a loss.
Sturgis was the primary kicker for the East team in the East-West Shrine Game. Sturgis accounted for seven of the East’s 13 points. The 2012 Lou Groza Award finalist was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals, with his longest being from 48 yards out.
Seniors Jon Bostic (Wellington, Fla.), Mike Gillislee (DeLand, Fla.), and Xavier Nixon (Fayetteville, N.C.) will be the final Gators to participate in a senior all-star game this year. The three will all play in the Senior Bowl on Saturday, January 26 in Mobile, Ala.
