The Florida volleyball team, coming off its 21st regional semifinal appearance in 22 seasons, finished the 2012 campaign ranked No. 10 in the final American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, marking the 22nd consecutive season that the Gators are among the nation’s top-15 in the final poll and the 21st top-10 appearance under Florida head coach Mary Wise.

Florida, who finished the 2012 season with a 27-5 record, has been ranked in the AVCA poll for 336 consecutive polls dating back to Sept. 17, 1991. That marks the nation’s fifth-longest streak of consecutive weeks ranked.

The Gators, led by AVCA First Team All-American Chloe Mann (Gainesville, Fla.) and AVCA National Freshman of the Year Živa Recek (Kočevje, Slovenia), lead the nation since 1991 with 686 total victories. Florida’s 22 consecutive 25-win seasons also comprise a nation-leading streak.

The 2012 NCAA Champion Texas Longhorns (29-4) garnered each of the 60 first-place votes to rank No. 1 in the AVCA’s final poll, while national runner-up Oregon (30-5) was No. 2. Overall No. 1 seed and national semifinalist Penn State (33-3) and PAC-12 Champion Stanford (30-4) finished third and fourth, respectively, while national semifinalist Michigan (27-12) rounded out the AVCA’s final top-five. Fellow Southeastern Conference member Kentucky (22-11) finished the year at No. 20 and Texas A&M and Tennessee each received votes in the final poll.
