Florida returns to the O’Connell Center for the first time in 15 days and plays host to Troy University on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The Gators (5-3) enter Tuesday’s game riding a nine-game home winning streak, including a 10-game run against non-conference teams.
The Gators have played their last four games away from Gainesville with their most recent home appearance back on November 19 in a 74-44 victory against North Florida.

Florida has lost its last two games and is coming off a tough 59-53 loss at Michigan on Saturday, when the team shot a season-low 30.3 percent from the floor, including a 17.4 percent (4-23) effort from the three-point arc.
“Coming off a disappointing offensive performance where we didn’t do a good job in the paint against Michigan, that has where we have a spent a lot of our emphasis during practice in our couple days of preparation for Tuesday’s game,” UF head coach Amanda Butler said. “We didn’t do a good job in the that game of maintaining our intensity to the end of those defensive possessions and Michigan’s will was greater than our in the last 10 seconds of the shot clock and we didn’t do what we needed to in order to finish the defensive possession.”
Troy is aiming to halt a three-game slide and enters Tuesday’s game off an 84-81 setback to Sun Belt Conference foe Western Kentucky.
The Gators and Trojans meet for the second time, with Troy earning the 82-66 decision way back on Dec. 8, 1979, when the teams squared off in the Mississippi College Classic in Clinton, Miss.
The Trojans (1-5) score a blistering 81.3 points per game, however, surrender 85.0 per game to their opponents. The team has already played three games on an opponent’s home court.
“They are very aggressive,” Butler said of Troy. “They have a new coach in Chanda Rigby, who was one of our former player’s (Deana Allen) coach at Pensacola Junior College and had a fantastic career there. Her teams play very aggressively and are great in transition. They play fearlessly in the paint and do a great job of rebounding. They attack the paint.”
Troy hits 35.8 percent (39-109) of its three-point attempts, with Jasmine Pitts (13-36, 36.1%) and Ashley Beverly-Kelley (9-17, 52.9%) doing the majority of the long-range work.
Beverly-Kelley is one of four Trojans who averages double-figure scoring, netting 13.7 per game. Joanna Harden adds 13.5 points, while Kourtney Coleman contributes 12.0 points with a team-best 7.3 rebounds. Britney McCloud tallies 10.8 points and has hit 6-of-13 from the three-point arc.
Redshirt-freshman Carlie Needles has converted 16-of-39 for an average of 41 percent from long range during UF’s last five games - including the record-setting 9-of-17 performance against North Florida on Nov. 19.
Preseason Naismith Player of the Year candidate Jennifer George has scored in double-figures in six of UF’s last seven games, including each of the last four outings. She leads the Gators in scoring (13.7) and rebounding (7.7).
