Gainesville, Fla.

Two former Gator swimmers, Ryan Lochte and Conor Dwyer competed at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, Texas. The meet featured several Olympians as well as collegiate teams from around the country.

Lochte, who is coming off of a very successful 2012 London Olympics, competed in three events over the course of the three-day meet. He continued to show his strength in the medley events as he won the men’s 200 IM, touching the wall at 1:40.97. The time was just .9 seconds off of the American record he already holds, set in 2007.

Also competing in the 200 IM was Dwyer, who won his first Olympic medal in 2012. He swam his way into the Final B, and finished fifth in a time of 1:45.77. Dwyer also competed in the 100 free, finishing 32nd in 44.85.

Several events later, both Lochte and Dwyer were back in the pool for the 200 freestyle. Lochte made his second A-Final and finished third with a time of 1:33.26. Dwyer won the C-Final, clocking in with a time of 1:35.75.

In his final event. Lochte competed in the 100 backstroke. He finished sixth in the A-final with a time of 46.01. He qualified in both the 50 free and the 200 back but did not compete in the finals of either event.

This was the first time both athletes had competed since the Olympics.
