Three top gymnasts signed national letters of intent with the University of Florida this November. Gator Head Coach Rhonda Faehn announced this class Wednesday.

Two signees have competed as senior international elites - Silvia Colussi-Pelaez and Claire Boyce. Boyce qualified as a senior international elite in 2011 and competed at the 2010 Visa Championships. She claimed the 2012 Junior Olympic Level 10 – Senior A all-around title.

Also joining the class is Morgan Frazier, a level 10 competitor from Orlando Metro’s club team. She won 2012 Florida Level 10 titles for all-around, vault and balance beam. Frazier also advanced to the 2012 and 2011 J.O. Level 10 Championships.

Coach Faehn says…

“Claire is a great all-arounder but her definite strengths are bars, beam and floor. She is the 2012 JO National all-around champion. She is a taller gymnast and has beautiful lines. She is very flexible and graceful. Claire reminds me of [past Gator All-American] Corey Hartung and is very similar to [current Gator All-American] Alaina Johnson as well. She’ll definitely stand out with her unique skills. Her beauty and artistry are second to none. She has a wonderful look to her gymnastics. She has certainly benefitted from being coached by World Championships’ all-around champion Kim Zmeskal-Burdette and Chris Burdette.

“She is very excited to join the Gators. We fell in love with Claire, her family and just her desire to continue to work hard and improve as a gymnast. She will be a perfect fit here at Florida.”

Coach Faehn says…

“Silvia is really going to be an exciting addition to the program. She has continued to improve and increase her difficulty. She is competing at the highest level, having performed at the World and European Championships. What I really like about Silvia is her desire to continue to push herself skill wise. She has a tremendous work ethic and is very disciplined. From the past year we have seen her gymnastics improve from when she verbally committed.

“She is a strong all-around gymnast, and her strengths are in bars, beam and floor. She is a very good balance as an athlete with difficulty but also with artistry. Her bars are beautiful, similar to Claire’s. They do a lot of stalder work and multiple releases. Her floor dance is beautiful. We are excited to welcome her to the Gator program.”

Coach Faehn says:

“Morgan will be a great addition to this class. Her strengths are vault, floor along with beam. We were most impressed with her vault and floor. She will be providing great depth for us on those events. She’s doing a Yurchenko half for her vault. We don’t have a half in our lineup currently so variety is nice. Morgan does the vault well. She’s very clean on floor. In addition to her great tumbling, she’s a very expressive dancer.

“She’s from Orlando Metro and the University of Florida gymnastics has had many outstanding gymnasts from that program. Jeff Woods and Christi Barineau do a tremendous job with their athletes. We are looking forward to having Morgan continue in that tradition. I loved that she is so positive and energetic. She’ll do anything possible to help the team be successful.”
