Wednesday November 14, 2012Florida Softball Signs Three Future Gators to National Letters of Intent
The University of Florida softball team, under the tutelage of eighth-year head coach Tim Walton, signed three future Gators in Delanie Gourley (Lakeside, Calif.), Chelsea Herndon (Carrollton, Texas) and Justine McLean (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) to National Letters of Intent Wednesday to kick off the fall signing period for UF. Gourley, Herndon and McLean will sport the Orange and Blue in 2013-14, as the trio is set to join the three-time SEC Champion and four-time WCWS participant Gators on the field for the 2014 softball season.
“We are thrilled about Delanie, Chelsea and Justine being Gators,” Walton expressed Wednesday. “This is such a dynamic class – when you look at what they’ve all been able to accomplish in their young careers, they are truly major impact players and they are winners. These three will bring an extremely unique dynamic to our team that we have always strived to have; all three are lefties. Delanie is a strikeout pitcher and Chelsea and Justine are both triple threats that bring tremendous speed, along with their talents on offense and defense. This type of a class could potentially give us the missing ingredients we need to win a championship at the University of Florida.”
