No. 7/7 Florida (9-1, 7-1 SEC) and Jacksonville St. (6-4, 5-3 Ohio Valley Conference) face off in the Swamp on Saturday in the first meeting between the two schools.
At stake for the Gators, just the third undefeated home season in school history, the Gators enter with a 6-0 mark after last week’s improbable and thrilling 27-20 victory over Louisiana in which they scored twice in the final 1:42 to erase a late deficit.
With the comeback win over Louisiana, UF has two fourth-quarter comebacks in the same season (Texas A&M and UL) for the first time since 1986 and only the third time since 1966.
Florida finished 7-1 in the SEC a season after going 3-5 in the SEC in 2011. The four-win improvement in conference play matches the best in program history (1954: Gators went 5-2 in SEC after going 1-3-2 the previous season; 1980: Gators went 4-2 in SEC after going 0-6 in the 1979 season).
According to the NCAA, Florida currently has the No. 1 strength of schedule (only FBS games count).
