Monday November 5, 2012Floyd Named SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week
University of Florida junior defensive lineman Sharrif Floyd (Philadelphia, Pa.) has been named the SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday.
Floyd was a key part of the Gators’ defensive line that recorded a season-high 10 tackles for loss in a win over SEC newcomer Missouri on Saturday. He recorded a team-high three tackles for a loss of 35 yards, as Florida notched its highest TFL total against a league opponent since 2010. On the day for the Orange and Blue, Floyd recorded five tackles, putting his season total to 35, which leads the Gators’ D-line.
In addition, Floyd was part of a defensive line that held the Tigers to just seven points, which marked just the second time in their last 93 games that they were held to just one touchdown.
The No. 7 Gators (8-1, 7-1 SEC) continue their three-game homestand in the Swamp when they host Louisiana (5-3, 3-2 Sun Belt) for Homecoming on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 12:21 p.m. on the SEC Network.
