University of Florida senior McKenzie Barney is part of the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District IV first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. Barney now advances to the national ballot and the national team is announced Nov. 28.

This is Barney’s second appearance on the district team, as she was a first-team selection in 2010. She is tied for second among the 2012 Gators with six goals and is fifth with 13 points. She shares No. 6 on the Gators Career List for game-winning goals (11). She is seventh on Florida’s career goals list (32) and eighth on the career points list (72).

Barney is a three-time member of the All-Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll and also part of the 2010 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Scholar All-America team. Barney, who owns a 3.77 grade point average, will receive her degree in telecommunication production this December.

The No. 10 Gators face Missouri Friday in SEC Tournament semifinal action. Play begins at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Orange Beach SportsPlex and the match streams list on ESPN3.
