Gator alums Doug Dickey and John L. Williams were inducted into the City of Jacksonville’s Florida/Georgia Hall of Fame today during the festivities surrounding the long-standing football rivalry between the University of Florida and the University of Georgia.
Dickey, a letterwinner for the Gators from 1951-1953, had a memorable game against the Bulldogs in 1953 where he threw a 22-yard touchdown pass, scored on a QB sneak and deflected a pass in the endzone from the safety position to help UF to a 21-7 win.
Williams, a letterwinner from 1982-85, finished his career with 2,409 rushing yards, a mark that ranks seventh on the Gators’ all-time list. Williams, a two-time second team All-SEC selection was inducted into the UF Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997.
David Greene and Charles Wittemore were the University of Georgia’s inductees recognized at the Hall of Fame ceremony.
