Saturday October 20, 2012UF Wraps Up Fall Season at Isleworth Collegiate Invitational
Florida’s men’s golf team will conclude its fall season at the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in nearby Windermere, Fla. The three-day tournament will begin on Sunday, October 21. Texas Tech University and the University of Central Florida will serve as the tournament hosts.
Seniors Tyler McCumber (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), Tommy Mou (Bradenton, Fla.), and T.J. Vogel (Cooper City, Fla.), sophomore J.D. Tomlinson (Gainesville, Fla.), and freshman A.J. Crouch (Jacksonville, Fla.) will represent the University of Florida in its fourth tournament of the season.
The team’s final event of the fall season may prove to be its toughest. Eight of the15 teams in the tournament field are ranked in the most recent Golf World/Nike Golf Coaches’ Poll Rankings. The top-three ranked teams in the nation (California, Texas, and Alabama) highlight the tournament field.
“Some of the best teams in the country will be there,” said head coach Buddy Alexander. “It presents a great opportunity for us.”
In addition, Florida will be attempting to conquer one of the most difficult courses in the country. The par-72, 7,544 yard course will certainly present a challenge for the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational field.
“The course is similar to Olympia Fields, just a little bit bigger,” Alexander said.
UF has competed in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational every year since 2009. The team’s best showing was in 2009, when the Gators finished as runners-up.
Teams will tee off beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Live scoring will be available on www.golftstat.com.
