GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators are currently second in the BCS rankings and in the midst of a comeback 2012 season that includes a home game loaded with SEC East implications Saturday against South Carolina.

While the Gators have much to play for this season, Florida’s 2013 schedule was released Thursday.

The Gators kick off next season at home on Aug. 31 against Toledo of the Mid-American Conference. It will be the first meeting between the two schools.

In Week 2 the Gators will travel to Miami as part of a home-and-home series that brought the Hurricanes to The Swamp in 2008, a 26-3 Gators win.

The Gators and Hurricanes have met 54 times but only five times since 1987. It will be Florida’s first game at Sun Life Stadium since its 24-14 win over Oklahoma to win the 2008 national title.

In Week 3 the Gators are off, the first of two bye weeks for Florida, which has not happened since the 2008 season.

After the bye week, the Gators host Tennessee in their Southeastern Conference opener Sept. 21 in search of their ninth consecutive win over the Vols.

Like this season, once the Gators open SEC competition they play eight consecutive games within the conference. After Tennessee, they travel to Kentucky (Sept. 28).

Next up are back-to-back games against the SEC West. Florida hosts Arkansas on Oct. 5 and then visits LSU on Oct. 12. The following week the Gators travel to Missouri for the first time.

The Gators' second bye week is Oct. 26, followed by the annual trip to Jacksonville to face Georgia on Nov. 2. The Gators close out conference play by hosting Vanderbilt on Nov. 9 and then traveling to South Carolina on Nov. 16.

The Gators then conclude the regular season with nonconference home games against Georgia Southern (Nov. 23) and Florida State (Nov. 30).
