Both teams come into Sunday’s meeting off of one-goal wins in Friday’s league action. Florida took a come-from-behind win in its meeting with Southeastern Conference co-leader No. 14 Missouri at Pressly Stadium. The Tigers’ Taiwo Adeshigbin scored off a corner kick to give MU a 1-0 halftime lead. Sophomore Annie Speese tied the match in the 53rd minute with her five-yard left-footed shot. It was her third consecutive goal versus the Tigers as she provided all the scoring in UF’s 2-0 win at Missouri last season. Dragotta blasted in Adriana Leon’s corner kick from seven yard in the 86th minute to give UF the final 2-1 margin. It was the third goal of Dragotta’s career – with all coming in 2012 – and it was the first game-winning goal of the trio.

With the win, Florida moves into sole possession of the league lead with four matches remaining. Texas A&M, after its 3-1 win Friday at Arkansas, is now second in the league standings. Florida defeated Texas A&M also by a 2-1 score last Sunday.

Mississippi State opened the 2012 season undefeated in its first eight matches as the Bulldogs turned in seven consecutive wins and started SEC play with a scoreless tie at South Carolina. The Bulldogs snapped a seven-match losing streak Friday with a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Alabama. Junior Elisabeth Sullivan played a role in each of MSU’s three goals Friday. She scored the Bulldogs final two goals, including the game-winner in the 88th minute. She leads MSU this season in both goals (9) and points (22).

A goal in the first minute of the match was all Mississippi State needed to upset the then No. 11 Gators 1-0 in the 2011 meeting between these two teams in Starkville, Miss. Sullivan scored just 37 seconds in and MSU withstood an onslaught of 13 shots on goal by the Gators to claim the Bulldogs’ second win over a top-25 team in October 2011 play.
