Gainesville, Fla.
The No. 11 Florida volleyball team finishes up their
four-match homestand as Ole Miss and Auburn descend
on the Stephen C. O’Connell Center this weekend. The Gators take on the Rebels
at 7 p.m. ET as a part of Florida’s Salute Those Who Serve match. On Sunday,
the Tigers face the Gators at 1:30 p.m. on Sun Sports. Both matches can be
heard live on Country 103.7 The Gator with live stats on GatorZone.com.
The Gators are looking to stay unbeaten in conference play,
as they are currently 7-0 in the SEC and haven’t dropped a match since their
four-set defeat at the hands of then-No. 7 Stanford at the Nike Big Four
Classic.
The Orange and Blue are coming off a 2-0 weekend, having
swept Arkansas last Friday night before winning a 3-2 comeback thriller over
SEC East rival Kentucky on Sunday afternoon. Freshman Živa Recek (Kočevje, Slovenia) was named the SEC Offensive Player

Gators improved to 7-0 in conference play and won their 10th consecutive match
overall. The freshman outside hitter hit .345 with 13 kills, six digs and four
blocks in Florida’s 3-0 sweep
of Arkansas on Friday evening. Her four blocks contributed to the Gators’ 16.5
team blocks, the most in a three-set match since Nov. 25, 2006.
On Sunday, the Slovenia native tallied
a match-high 19 kills in Florida’s comeback win over Kentucky, including eight
errorless kills (.533) in the third set when UF trailed the match 0-2. Recek
added eight digs and a pair of aces in the win over UK.
Florida leads
the SEC in hitting percentage (.311) and service aces (1.49/set), while the
Gators have four hitters in the SEC’s top 10 in
hitting percentage. Senior Tangerine Wiggs (Seattle, Wash.) leads the conference with her
.427 hitting efficiency, good for eighth in the NCAA. Junior Chloe Mann (Gainesville, Fla.) is
fourth in the league with .379, senior Betsy
Smith (Atlanta, Ga.) is seventh with .335 and Recek
is 10th with a .323 offensive clip.
