Gainesville, Fla.

Adriana Leon (left) and Erika Tymrak picked up SEC Player of the Week honors Monday by two different outlets.

A duo of Gators are Southeastern Conference Player of the Week selections by two different outlets. Senior All-American Erika Tymrak (Bradenton, Fla.) shares the SEC Offensive Soccer Player of the Week honor, the league office announced Monday morning. Also picking up league player of the week honors is junior Adriana Leon, as College Sports Madness named her the SEC recipient.

Tymrak played a part in both of Florida’s game-winning goals on the road this weekend. At LSU on Friday, she received the ball from outside back Lauren Silver and then drove end line. She skillfully placed the ball in at the far post in the 74th minute to score her third goal of the season.

The combination of play Sunday between Tymrak and Leon in Florida’s 2-1 win at No. 5 Texas A&M led to their weekly honors. With the match tied in the opening half, Tymrak’s centering pass found Leon in the box and she pounded a 10-yard shot to the roof of the net.

Both Leon and Tymrak have turned in three goals this season. Both have missed 2012 action as Leon was with the Canadian National Team in Japan for the FIFA Women’s Under-20 World Cup for Florida’s opening four matches. Last weekend marked Tymrak’s first appearance since being sidelined right before halftime of the Sept. 21 Tennessee match with a sprained left ankle.

This is the fourth SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor for Tymrak and her second of the 2012 season. She picked up the honor once as a junior and sophomore. Leon was named to the CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performers list on Sept. 25. Leon joined the Gators this season after playing at Notre Dame the last two seasons.

SEC co-leader Missouri is next for the Gators. Both teams stand atop the league standings with 21 points, while Texas A&M is in third with 19. There will be a third reigning SEC Player of the Week on the pitch Friday, as Tymrak shares this week’s SEC Offensive Player of the Week honor with Missouri junior Alyssa Diggs.

No. 16 Missouri (12-2, 7-1 SEC) comes to Gainesville for the Kicking for the Cure match on Friday, Oct. 12. It is Florida soccer’s cancer awareness match and fans are encouraged to wear pink to show their support for the fight against breast cancer. Match time is set for 7 p.m. at the James G. Pressly Stadium. The first 500 fans Friday receive pink wristbands and be sure to stay to the end to see the pink fireworks display.

Friday’s match airs live on SUN Sports (Gainesville/Ocala Cox Cable channel 1048). The match can also be heard on ESPN 850, by simulcast on Cox Channel 946 (Gainesville/Ocala) or on www.GatorZone.com with Adam Schick calling the action.
