Lauren Embree will begin her tournament action in the main draw of singles and doubles.

Six members of the 2012-13 University of Florida women’s tennis team were selected to compete in the prestigious Riviera/ITA All-American Championships that will be held in Pacific Palisades, Calif.

 

Gator senior Lauren Embree (Marco Island, Fla.) received an automatic berth into the 32-player main singles draw that will be contested Oct. 4-7 at the Riviera Tennis Club.

 

Juniors Alexandra Cercone (Seminole, Fla.) and Sofie Oyen (Leopoldsburg, Belgium) begin their hunt for the national individual singles title in the 64-player qualifying draw, where action takes place, Oct. 2-3. Athletes must win three rounds to reach the main draw.

 

Freshman Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.), senior Caroline Hitimana (Waterloo, Belgium) and junior Olivia Janowicz (Palm Bay, Fla.) each start their tournament run in the 64-player prequalifying event that will be played Sept. 29-30 at UCLA. Competitors must win three rounds to advance to the qualifying draw.

 

In doubles, Embree pairs with Collins in the 24-team main draw, while Cercone and Oyen begin action in the 32-team qualifying draw and need to win three matches to advance to the main draw.
