Florida's Erika Tymrak (left) and Kathryn Williamson are both candidates for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award.

University of Florida senior All-Americans Erika Tymrak (Bradenton, Fla.) and Kathryn Williamson (McKinney, Texas) are among the 30 candidates for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award for the sport of soccer, the awards committee announced Tuesday.

The CLASS Award stands for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages those leaders to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: Classroom, Character, Community, and Competition.

Last December, both Tymrak and Williamson were named National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) All-Americans. Williamson picked up her second career All-America honor in 2011 She made her second consecutive appearance on the All-Southeastern Conference first team as a junior. In 2011, Williamson started every contest at center back, playing the entirety of 23 matches. She led all Florida field players with an average of 87.04 minutes per match. This summer, she played with the W-League’s Ottawa Fury. The Fury won the W-League Championship on July 29 and Williamson was named the tournament’s MVP.

Tymrak earned NSCAA All-America second team honors as a junior. In 2011, she was placed on the All-SEC first-team honors for the second consecutive year and made her third appearance on the NSCAA All-South Region team. She led Florida in 2011 with collegiate-highs for points (32) and goals (12) and finished second among the Gators in assists (8). In the final SEC standings, Tymrak stood third in points, shared third in goals and shared sixth in assists. Already this season, Tymrak has picked up NSCAA National Player of the Week honors after her golden goal at No. 2 Duke on Aug. 26.

The pair also appears on the Women's 2012 Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch List.

From the list of 30 candidates, a national media committee will select 10 finalists for the 2012 Senior CLASS Award at the midway point of the season. Those 10 names will then be placed on the official ballot for a nationwide vote. Fan balloting will be coupled with votes from coaches and media to determine the recipient of the award. The female winner will be announced at the Women’s College Cup, which is set for Nov. 30-Dec. 2 in San Diego, Calif.

In the 2009 calendar year, three from the University of Florida were named the Senior CLASS Award recipient for their sport - Brandon McArthur (baseball), Stacey Nelson (softball) and Tim Tebow (football).
