Tuesday September 18, 2012Dashiell Nominated for Inside Lacrosse "Laxie"
Senior midfielder Brittany Dashiell (Bel Air, Md.) has been nominated for the “Women’s Player of the Year” in the fifth annual Inside Lacrosse Magazine “Laxies.”
Dashiell is coming off an impressive junior season for the Gators, where she was the first Tewaaraton Award finalist in school history and a finalist for the Honda Sports Award. She started all but one game for the Orange and Blue last season and earned three All-American honors from the IWLCA, SynapseSports.com and WomenLax.com. In addition, she was a IWLCA First-Team All-South Region selection and All-ALC First-Team honoree. Dashiell finished top four on the team in every statistical category, leading the team with 69 points and 25 assists, second with 17 caused turnovers, third in both goals (44) and draw controls (46) and fourth in ground balls (31).
The Bel Air, Md. native is up against the reigning Tewaaraton Award winner Katie Schwarzmann (Maryland), Shannon Smith (Northwestern), Taylor Thorton (Northwestern) and Michelle Tumolo (Syracuse).
The award winner is chosen by a public vote that is now open and will run through Sept. 30. At the end of each day during the promotion period, one voter will be selected to win a prize and will have their pick of: one ILGear.com T-Shirt, one 2013 Inside Lacrosse Wall Calendar, or one 2013 Face-Off Yearbook.
