The Gators concluded non-conference play with a single match versus New Mexico on Sunday, Sept. 9. The Lobos were the sixth consecutive opponent for Florida which advanced to the 2011 NCAA field of 64. Florida came roaring back after a 50-minute lightning delay to score the tying and game-winning goals to claim a 3-2 win over the Lobos. All three Gator goals came in the second half, with the first and final goals coming from players scoring for the first time in 2012. Sophomore Annie Speese tied the match with her goal in the 49th minute. Shortly after the Lobos went ahead 2-1, the field was cleared for a 50-minute lightning delay. Senior Erika Tymrak scored the tying goal just over two minutes after play resumed. Senior Holly King headed in a free kick in the 66th minute to put UF on top.

Kentucky is undefeated in 2012 home action this season and is receiving votes on the most recent National Soccer Coaches Association of American (NSCAA) poll. The Wildcats opened the season with four consecutive home wins – Coastal Carolina (2-0), Eastern Kentucky (2-1), UNC Greensboro (2-0) and Southeast Missouri (1-0). Last weekend at Louisville’s Cardinal Classic, Kentucky defeated the host 2-0 before suffering a 3-1 loss to Samford on Sunday. Natalie Horner, Ashley VanLandingham  and Cara Ledman all share the Wildcat’s season goal lead at two each.
