Shading denotes home meets

Five of the teams Florida faces in 2013 advanced to last season’s 12-team NCAA Championships’ field, with three proceeding to the 2012 NCAA Super Six team final.

“It is important to face competition which will test us throughout the season. Half of our dual-meet schedule is against programs among the NCAA Championships’ field last year in Duluth. We want to be thoroughly prepared when the championship portion of the season arrives in late March,” UF Head Coach Rhonda Faehn said.

The 2013 campaign opens with a home dual meet versus Ball State on Jan. 4. Then the Gators travel to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU. The Tigers are UF’s first opponent that was among the 2012 NCAA Championships’ 12-team field in Duluth, Ga. A pair of home duals are next, with Missouri making its first trip to Gainesville as a member of the Southeastern Conference. Florida faces Missouri on Jan. 18.

The popular Gators Link to Pink meet is set for Jan. 25 when Florida faces Auburn. Since the first Gators Link to Pink in 2007, this meet has grown in popularity. Recent years have seen crowds of better than 8,000 as the Gators and their fans show their support for the fight against breast cancer.

Consecutive dual meets versus 2012 NCAA Super Six teams are next for the Gators. Florida travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to face Arkansas on Feb. 1. Then two-time defending NCAA champion Alabama comes to Gainesville for one of the nation’s top dual meets of the 2013 season. An imperceptible margin of 0.075 put Florida in second behind Alabama in the 2012 NCAA Super Six competition.

Florida travels to Athens, Ga., to face another team that was among the 2012 NCAA Championships’ field. The dual between Florida and Georgia is set for Saturday, Feb. 16. The Gators return home to play host to their final two home duals of the season – Kentucky (Feb. 22) and Minnesota (March 1).

Florida finishes dual meet action with a trip west to face perennial power Utah on March 16.

The championship portion of the season begins at the SEC Championships in Little Rock, Ark., on March 23, where the Gators will look to defend their 2012 crown.

NCAA Regional action returns to Gainesville on April 6, with the top two teams looking to advance to the 2013 NCAA Championships, set for April 19-21 in Los Angeles.
