Gator Growl 2012 has announced Josh Turner as the musical talent for this year's show, to be held on November 9 at 7 p.m. at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
This year's show will serve as the culmination of the Homecoming celebration, the night before the Homecoming football game against Louisiana-Lafayette.
Turner has charted 10 singles, four of which have gone to the top of the country singles chart. His single “Why Don’t We Just Dance” spent 4 weeks at #1 and was the most played song on country radio in 2010 according to Mediabase. Other number one hits include “Your Man,” “All Over Me” and “Would You Go With Me.”
Turner is currently promoting his latest album “Punching Bag.” The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart, and has cracked the Top 5 of the Billboard 200.
The single “Time Is Love” from the album has also reached the Top 5 of the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
Turner was born and raised in Hannah, S.C., and attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn.
In addition to Josh Turner, this year’s event will also feature a comedian act, fireworks, and the Para-Commandos skydiving team as well as the Dazzlers, UF cheerleaders and the Gator football team’s senior members.

The theme of Gator Growl 2012 is “United We Growl” and the show will be honoring both the Florida Gators and the United States military on the eve of Veterans Day Weekend.
Gator Growl marks the culmination of UF’s homecoming festivities and brings together students, alumni, staff and faculty.
