GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators open the 2012 season against Bowling Green on Saturday in the first meeting between the schools.
Florida seeks its 23rd consecutive season-opening win. Florida's streak of 22 consecutive wins in season openers currently ranks second in the country behind Nebraska's 26-game streak.

Much of the Gators' focus during camp was directed at starting the season fast with two of their first three games on the road. That chance is finally here against the Falcons of the Mid-American Conference.
Bowling Green is coming off a 5-7 season and is led by quarterback Matt Schilz, who threw for more than 3,000 yards and 28 touchdowns last season.
Meanwhile, the Gators feature a defense that returns 10 starters off a unit that finished eighth nationally in total defense a year ago. Offensively, Florida fans will get a chance to see both sophomore quarterbacks -- Jeff Driskel and Jacoby Brissett -- play against the Falcons after a closely contested battle in fall camp.
