Check back tomorrow to see how Great Britain does in the 4x100m medley relay!
Heats:
Former Gator Sarah Bateman (Iceland) competed in two events on Friday morning. Bateman was in the women’s 50m freestyle and finished first in heat seven with a time of 25.28. Her time tied her for 16th with two other swimmers so a swim-off would determine who would advance. Bateman swam a 26.03 in the swim-off to just miss advancing to the semifinals.
Bateman then teamed up with current Gator Hilda Luthersdottir (Iceland) for the 4x100m medley relay. Luthersdottir swam the breaststroke leg and Bateman the butterfly leg. Iceland finished eighth in their heat with a time of 4:07.09 and did not advance to the final.
Gemma Spofforth and Jemma Lowe also competed in the 4x100m medley relay for the host country of Great Britain. Spofforth led off with the backstroke leg and Lowe swam butterfly. The group finished fifth in their heat with a time of 3:59.37 to advance to the final Saturday at 3:07 p.m. ET
