The University of Florida men’s golf program continues to demonstrate their success after college with 19 former Gators playing professionally on the PGA Tour, Champions Tour, Web.com Tour (formerly Nationwide Tour), and Asian Tour.
This year, nine former UF golfers have participated in PGA Tour events. Matt Every is currently the highest-ranked Gator in the world, checking in at No. 125. In 17 PGA Tour events this year, Every has six top-25 finishes with five of those being top-10. He tied for second place at the Valero Texas Open, his highest finish in 2012.
Camilo Villegas checks in at No. 162 in the latest world rankings. In 19 PGA Tour events, Villegas has come in the top-25 three times, with his best finish coming at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans where he finished tied for 18th place.
Brian Gay has played in 21 events this year. Gay has come in the top-25 three times, with two of those being top-10 finishes. His best finish came at the Valero Texas Open, where he finished two strokes behind Every to tie for fourth place.
In 21 PGA Tour events in 2012, Billy Horschel has finished in the top-25 twice, with one of those being a top-10 finish. At the True South Classic, Horschel finished in third place. He also played in six Web.com Tour events, finishing in the top-25 twice, one of those was a top-10 finish. His best finish came at the Stadion Clasic at UGA where he came in fourth place.
Three-time All-American Chris DiMarco has participated in 23 events this year. DiMarco has finished in the top-25 three times. His best finish being was at the John Deere Classic, where he finished in a tie for eighth place.
Chris Couch has played in 19 events. Couch has finished in the top-25 three times, with his highest finish being at the True South Classic where he finished in a tie for 13th place.
1989 British Open champion Mark Calcavecchia has played in three PGA Tour events in 2012. His best showing came at this year’s British Open, finishing in a tie for ninth. On the Champions Tour, he is currently ranked fifth in the Charles Schwab Cup rankings. In 16 events, Calcavecchia has 14 top-25 finishes, seven of those being in the top-10. He also recorded one second-place finish and won the Montreal Championship, his second career Champions Tour victory.
Scott Dunlap has played in 14 PGA Tour events in 2012. Dunlap has also played in six events on the Web.com Tour, as well.
Dudley Hart, UF teammate of DiMarco, has participated in one PGA Tour event this year.
Five former Gators, including Calcavecchia, have participated in Champions Tour events this year. Andy Bean has played in 13 events in 2012 on the Champions Tour. His best finish was at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf where he tied for third place.
In three Champions Tour events this year, Andy North has finished in the top-25 twice and in the top-10 once. At the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf, North finished two strokes behind Bean to tie for eighth place.
Gary Koch has played in three events, while David Peoples has participated in nine this year on the Champions Tour. Both have recorded one top-25 finish in 2012.
In addition to Dunlap and Horschel, four Gators have participated in Web.com events this year. Camilo Benedetti has shown the most success in his 14 events played in 2012. Benedetti has recorded seven top-25 finishes with four of those being top-10. This year, he has finished in fifth place twice. In addition, he currently ranks 19th on the Money List rankings.
Bubba Dickerson has participated in 12 events this year, placing in the top-25 twice. His best finish this year came at the TPC Stonebrae Championship where he finished in a tie for 11th place.
Andres Echavarria and Manuel Villegas have each played in two events this year on the Web.com Tour.
Bank Vongvanij has played in 10 events on the Asian Tour in 2012. Vongvanij has two top-10 finishes with his best finish coming at the Zaykabar Myanmar Open Presented by Air Bagan where he finished in a tie for fourth place.
