Four Gators were named to Team USA for the 2012 IAAF World
Junior Track & Field Championships, having finished in the top two of their
event at the 2012 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in
Bloomington, Ind.
Rising sophomore Taylor
Burke (Medina, Ohio) claimed the USA Junior Championship in the women’s
high jump, earning her a spot at the IAAF World Junior Championships in
Barcelona, Spain from July 10-15.
Burke cleared 1.80m/5-10.75 to take home the title, as the
2012 SEC Champion in the women’s high jump didn’t miss a bar until her final
height.
Fellow rising sophomore Ciarra Brewer (Union City, Calif.) turned in a runner-up finish in the women’s
triple jump, as the 2012 SEC Champion in the women’s triple jump earned her
spot in Barcelona with a jump of 13.03m/42-9 (0.0).
Incoming freshman Robin
Reynolds (Miami, Fla.) won the women’s long jump, joining Burke and Brewer on
the U.S. roster for the IAAF World Junior Championships. Reynolds leaped 6.24m/20-5.75
(+0.1) to win the event and cement her place in Barcelona.
Incoming freshman Arman Hall (Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.) was the lone Gator male to make the Team USA roster,
finishing second in 45.77 to solidify his spot for the red, white and blue.
