Following Florida’s Final Four berth, Sam Farrell (Millersville, Md.) and Mikey Meagher (Liverpool, N.Y.) were named to the 2012 NCAA All-Tournament Team. The pair of Gators join two Terps, three members of the Orange, and five National Champion Wildcats, including Most Outstanding Player Shannon Smith, as honorees for their strong play in the postseason tournament.
Farrell and Meagher were members of the Florida defense which led all advancing teams with an average of just 6.67 goals per game. Farrell scooped up six ground balls and caused three turnovers in Florida’s three games, helping to hold the Gators’ first two opponents to four and two goals, respectively.
Meagher led all starting goalkeepers with a .574 save percentage over the three games, finishing the tournament as the only goalie to play significant minutes and earn a save percentage above .500. Meagher made 27 saves and allowed 20 goals over three games, tying her own school record against Syracuse with 15 saves in regulation.
