Monday May 21, 2012No. 12 Gators Begin Play at NCAA Championship on Tuesday

The No. 12 University of Florida women’s golf team is traveling to Franklin, Tenn. to make its second consecutive appearance at the NCAA Championship May 22-25. It’s the first back-to-back appearance for the Gators since 2006. UF finished tied for 10th last year in head coach Jan Dowling’s first appearance at the NCAA Championship. The Gators, who have played their best golf as of late, look to build on their recent success in at the Vanderbilt Legends Course.

 

The NCAA Championship is a four-day event set to be played Tuesday, May 22 through Friday, May 25. There will be four 18-hole rounds with a round being played each day. UF is set to tee off at 8:30 am ET and will be playing with Virginia and Baylor.

 

The Gators, who played at the Legends Club in the fall at the Mason Rudolph, have won two NCAA Championships (1985, ‘86) in program history.

 

The NCAA Championship includes 18 teams ranked in the Top-25 of the Golf World/NGCA Coaches’ Poll as of May 14: No. 1 UCLA, No. 2 Alabama, No. 4 Southern Cal, No. 5 Duke, No. 6 Arizona State, No. 7 North Carolina, No. 8 LSU, No. 10 Colorado, No. 12 Florida, No. 13 Vanderbilt, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 17 Baylor, No. 19 Pepperdine, No. 19 Ohio State, No. 21 Michigan State, No. 22 NC State and No 25 South Carolina. Florida is one of seven SEC teams in the field at the NCAA Championship
