A sweep for the Gators would solidify UF’s fourth SEC Championship in program history and a No. 1 seed heading into the 2012 SEC Tournament next week, also in Tuscaloosa at Rhoads Stadium. By taking two of the three games against UA, the Gators, Crimson Tide and Tennessee Volunteers would all sit tied for the regular-season title. Should the Gators lose two or more in the three-game pack, UF would finish third, as Tennessee concluded its league slate at 22-6.

Alabama enters the tilt 45-5 overall on the year, 21-4 in the SEC, while Florida is 43-8 on the year, 20-5 in league play. The Gators and Crimson Tide met a total of five times last season, last in two games in the 2011 Women’s College World Series on elimination Sunday as UF rallied to defeat Alabama twice to stay alive in postseason play and advance to its second WCWS Championship series. In the regular-season match-up, the Tide took game one, 5-0, while UF followed with two-consecutive walk-off wins Saturday and Sunday – including a nine-inning victory – to take the series in Gainesville.

Game times for UF and UA are 7:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 3 p.m. (ET), respectively, as Saturday’s game will air live on ESPN2, Sunday on ESPNU with Beth Mowins and Jessica Mendoza on the call each day. Gator fans can also tune in live locally on the radio or online to 105 The Game, WYGC 104.9-FM, with Adam Schick on the call.

Last time out for the Gators, UF split a mid-week doubleheader with No. 23 LSU to move to 8-5 against Top-25 competition before dropping its first series of the year to Kentucky at home. The Wildcats’ series win was its second-consecutive after sweeping the Gators last year in Lexington. Florida won its third extra-innings game of the year in the first game of the double dip with LSU April 24, a 2-1 victory in eight. Senior Michelle Moultrie (Jacksonville, Fla.) struck for a RBI double for the walk-off win against the Tigers before LSU claimed the nightcap, 1-0.

Saturday’s game with UK was all about Moultrie as Florida celebrated UF’s only senior on Senior Day, a game the Gators won, 5-0, thanks in part to Moultrie’s leadoff blast, for their 20th shutout of the year, along with their 20th SEC victory of the season. UF has now has five-straight 20-win league campaigns, six in school history. Florida head coach Tim Walton is now 497-152 (.765) in his nine-year head coaching career, and is approaching milestone win No. 500.
