The No. 3/4 Gator Softball squad will look to rebound from Wednesday’s loss at UCF with a three-game weekend series against Auburn April 13-15 at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium. The series with the Tigers (26-15, 5-11 SEC) will kick off an 11-game home stand for the Orange and Blue (35-5, 15-2 SEC), which will finish the month of April in Gainesville, then head to Alabama for its final league series before competition in the SEC Tournament, also in Tuscaloosa, to start the May slate.

Game times are 6 p.m., 1 p.m. and 1 p.m., respectively, Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the series with the Tigers. Florida and Auburn fans can watch live streaming from GatorVision through GatorVision.tv (pay-per-view), tune in live locally and online to WYGC-104.9 FM, 105 The Game, with Adam Schick and Megan Bush or follow live stats online through Gametracker, with all links accessible on GatorZone.com/softball.

After a solid week last week, including wins over No. 21 FSU and a series sweep over Ole Miss at home, the Gators were tripped up in Orlando Wednesday, as the Knights used a first-inning two-RBI double to down UF, 2-0, for the first-ever time at the UCF Softball Complex. Florida hurler Hannah Rogers (Lake Wales, Fla.) and UCF pitcher Mackenzie Audas combined for 18 strikeouts, led by Audas’ 11, in the shootout where the two squads combined for just five hits.

Senior Michelle Moultrie (Jacksonville, Fla.) rallied for UF’s only two hits of the game, extending her double-digit hit number to 19 total games this season.

Despite its fifth loss of the season against the Knights, the Gators received good news Wednesday as both Moultrie and Rogers were named Top-25 finalists for USA Softball’s Collegiate Player of the Year award. Just last week, Moultrie received another accolade as one of 10 finalists for this year’s Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award.

Florida owns a 13-4 record at home in Gainesville against the Tigers, who are receiving votes in the Top-25 polls, and will look to extend the wins column this weekend. UF and AU met four times last year after the Gators visited Auburn for a three-game league series, while the two had a rendezvous in the first game of the 2011 SEC Tournament.

UF swept AU convincingly, 14-4, 8-2 and 13-4 (6) during its regular-season series last year, but the Tigers got the best of the Gators in Oxford, Miss., with a 6-2 victory in the first round of the SEC Tournament.

Auburn heads to Gainesville having lost four straight and seven of its last 10 games. The four-game losing streak is the second-longest losing streak for the Tigers this season. Auburn lost five straight from March 17-24, losing twice to No. 8 Georgia, once to Troy and twice to Kentucky.

The Tigers are currently third in the SEC Western Division and seventh overall in the SEC. Auburn will play three of the four teams they currently lead in the conference standings in the final four weeks of the season. Auburn is 1.5 games up on eighth-place Mississippi State (5-14) and will play the Bulldogs in the season finale May 4-6 in Auburn. The Tigers are two games up on South Carolina (3-13) and play the Gamecocks in Columbia April 27-29. Next weekend’s opponent, Arkansas (3-14), is 2.5 games back of the Tigers.
