Thursday April 5, 2012Q&A With Junior Midfielder Brittany Dashiell

Gainesville, Fla.

Throughout the season, GatorZone.com will post Q&A’s with various members of the Florida lacrosse team. In the ninth installment, we check in with junior midfielder Brittany Dashiell.

Q: Now that you’re an upperclassman and the team has been together for a few years, how do you think the team has grown? Our team has gained much more experience by playing teams such as Northwestern, Duke, and UNC in our past two seasons.  Our chemistry has also grown much stronger.  We’re all very close.

Q: What are your personal goals for the season? What do you see as the team’s goals? My personal goals are to attack the cage more, become a better defender, and step up as a leader on offense.  Our team goals are to go to the Final Four and eventually win the National Championship!

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a Florida Lacrosse player? The pride at the University of Florida is unbelievable.  The Gator Nation is everywhere and I’m just proud to represent this school.  The weather is amazing down here too of course.

Q: What are some of your favorite non-lacrosse things to do in or around Gainesville?  I like to hang out with my friends, go to the pool, and experience new places like Ginnie Springs.

Q: What is your favorite memory with your teammates, on or off the field?  My favorite memory would have to be the day we named “National Hairnet Day.”  We decided to wear the massage headrest nets as hairnets one day and we went out to conditioning/practice with them on.

Q: Tell us a little-known fact about you… I traveled to Brazil my sophomore year of high school to play soccer for the Olympic Development Program.

Q: What’s your favorite class that you’ve taken at UF, and why?  Intro to Dance has been my favorite UF class because it was a lot of fun and I took it with one of my teammates, Colby Rhea. I actually met Colby through dance class when we were just 4 years old.

Q: What do you want to do after you graduate?  After I graduate, I plan on going to Grad School to pursue my goals of joining the medical field.

Q: If you could take a trip anywhere in the world, where would it be? Australia or New Zealand, for sure.  I’ve always wanted to go to Australia and I’ve heard from friends that New Zealand is the most beautiful place in the world.

Q: What are your favorite tv shows? Friday Night Lights, Vampire Diaries and The Bachelor.

Q: Top 5-10 most-played songs on your iPod:  “Cali Girl” by Ballyhoo!, “Give in to Me” from the Country Strong soundtrack, “Fly” by Sugar Ray, “Leave the Pieces” by The Wreckers, “Safe and Sound” by Rebelution, and “You Belong with Me” by Taylor Swift.

Q: What has been the key to integrating the 8 new players into this team that’s been together since the beginning?  The key was getting them up to speed.  The more we practiced and played together, the more we played as a whole and got more comfortable with each other.
